Today we're going to talk about Local SEO.
Have you ever done a search and Google shows you search results on a map? Of course you have! Google’s “3 pack” appears in 93% of searches that have local intent.
If your competitor is showing up in these results and you’re not, this is disastrous for your business. Even worse, Google could have incorrect information on your business that is giving the wrong address or phone number, or even telling people you are closed when you are actually open.
The majority of businesses serve clients that live, work, or play in close proximity to their location. If your business is an online business, this is probably not a technique you are concerned about. For the rest of you, do this and watch your revenues increase.
Local SEO (search engine optimization) is all about your business being found relative to its geographic location. This is especially important for (but not limited to) mobile search.
Mobile search surpassed desktop searches quite some time ago now. The gap continues to widen. Statistics show that the majority of mobile search has local intent, meaning that the searcher is looking for something close to them.
When someone pulls out their mobile device and searches for a mechanic, restaurant, or doctor, they are typically looking for someone close to them, and they are usually ready to make a buying decision.
This is where local SEO comes in, and it is one of the easier things that a business owner can do themselves and see a direct return on investment.
For those of you who want to tackle this yourself, check out this video series I did, "A Primer on Local SEO”. We've had multiple people put this into action and see great results for their business!
