Who are you?
I’m Karen Lewis. I love music, movies, comic conventions, ren faires, retro-inspired fashion, and burying my nose in a book. I live in Mandeville with my husband Doug, and we have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Gizmo.
What do you do?
I perform Website Administration and Organic SEO, making sure your website contains great content, that it looks perfect, and that you can be found easily in search engines!
Why do you love working for 5 Stones Media?
Years ago, I became interested in blogging, and with it, web design. I taught myself basic web design (in Microsoft FrontPage - that shows my age) to create my own website. Since then, I’ve always wanted to work at a company that would allow me to build and work on websites. I understand the need for companies to be “out there” and to utilize new, internet-focused media, and I understand that just putting a website online or creating a Facebook page won’t automatically get you there! I look forward to new clients, and I love seeing their results. Working at 5 Stones Media has been this geek girl’s dream come true. I have learned so much from the team at 5 Stones - and I can’t wait to learn more!
Tell us something no one knows about you!
My last job was working as a bra fitter at a local lingerie shop. I’m a big proponent in making people feel good about themselves.
What is your proudest achievement?
Winning Best In Show in the costume contest at CoastCon in Mississippi a few years ago. I love seeing and receiving results when I work on something!
What is your biggest pet peeve?
When I reach out to someone – email, phone, text, etc. - and they don’t respond. Other than that, it bugs me when people leave the empty cardboard roll on the toilet paper holder.
What is one thing you can't live without?
Just one? My Macbook Pro. If I had to pick two, it would be my Macbook and my iPhone.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I collect dresses from Trashy Diva, a local retro-inspired clothing line and store. I also watch anime, play games (both board and RPGs), and love writing in my personal blog.
