Good morning everyone and welcome to our Thursday edition of 5 Stones Academy. We just went through a series on search engine optimization and we'll be starting a new series soon but today I wanted to do something a little bit different. Today I want to talk to you about celebrating the small wins, which is something that is very important to me. I am finding lately that it really means a lot. As I have been out of the business more and more doing sales and I'm not within the office on a day to day and certainly not all day. I'm not here to often hear about the things that are happening, you know, that's awesome for our clients, and the things that are happening, you know, that are great for us as well. So one of the things that I did was I went to my leadership team and said, hey, we need to put together some kind of a way to share these wins so that I know what's happening within the business.

It's super important that as a small business owner that you know all of the good things that are happening because the one thing you can be sure of is you'll always hear about the things that are happening that are not good. If there's some kind of fire that needs to be put out or something you're going to know about that. before you know about anything else You're also the person who's got a send off that big check to the IRS a couple of times a month and things like that can wear down on you after a while. So you have to make it a point to celebrate the wins and not just the big wins. You know, in a marketing agency, we love celebrating those big wins that we have for our client. But the thing about a big win is that after these big wins start happening, it's like the threshold gets higher and higher and higher for what is a big win.

The things that used to be a big win are now just the norm and when that happens and you don't have those things to celebrate, then you just kind of get into the monotony of running a business and you forget about all the great things that are actually happening. So what we've done is we have a daily standup every morning at 8:30, the entire agency comes together and we each have an opportunity to talk about three things and you know, we get a minute or two each to go over these things. But the first thing that we talk about is how are you doing today? And that's the opportunity for you to let everyone know, you know, anything exciting, or not so exciting that's happening in your life at the time. It's just a, you know, let me tell everybody in the agency about what's going on.

Most of the time, you know, everybody has, you know, they're feeling good or as Tony would say, he's feeling Gucci, but you know, we, it's just a good way to let everybody know how you're feeling for the day. The next thing that we talk about is the three most important things that we need to get done today That way everyone else within the agency knows what's on your plate for the day and they may have some input that's going to be important to that and during that meeting they don't give that input, but they would know afterwards to go talk to you about whatever one of those things is that you're doing and how some information they have or something they're doing coincides with that. And the last thing that we do is going to be to share a win. So today I came in and I was feeling really happy because we had a lot of wins yesterday.

I got to spend some time out of the office meeting with some clients and potential clients. I also went to my rotary meeting and just some real cool things happened. So the first one was that, well, the first thing that happened was we went to a rotary and at rotary, the rotary club had asked Karen to come visit the group. Now we didn't tell Karen, but we knew that the rotary club wanted to honor her because anytime that they need something done to their website, just like with any of our clients, Karen was on it. She gets sent an email and has to make a little change and she just makes things happen really quick and the Rotary Club, they just wanted to honor her. So they brought her in, they brought her up in front of the group, recognized her, gave her a nice little gift and of course we took a couple of pictures of it and put it on our social media.

And when I was looking at that on social, I started looking just at some of the things that our team has been putting in place on our social media and our social media is on point right now. I know that if I were someone who was looking for an agency to work with and I went and looked at the 5 Stones social, I would just feel really good about doing business with 5 Stones. And when I saw that and just started looking at some of the creative things that they're doing and how they are incorporating our core values into it and mixing up our core values with testimonials that we're getting from our clients and sharing some of our successes on social media. It just got me excited, you know, I just felt really good about it when I saw that. So that was one of my shares this morning. You know, about wins was talking about our own social media and how awesome the team is doing with that.

And then the other thing was when we were meeting with a client yesterday, he was telling us about this collateral piece for them recently. We made this folder with these staggered inserts and he was talking about how he went and met with a client and he was actually selling them a phone system. The phone system deal was done, but when they started looking through the folder that he gave them and they're looking at the staggered inserts and they see that he does IT work as well. They said, "Oh, you do IT work. We hate our IT guy. Can you do that for us?" And turned that into a recurring client on a monthly basis doing their IT work. So, you know, huge win for, for that. And that wasn't the only example that he's given me of how that, that collateral piece has brought them new business.

So, you know, that was a great win. I got to bring that to our team and tell them about that. Another one that we just had recently was we were doing some Facebook Advertising for Chappapeela Park for their flag football program and they got just a huge influx of people signing up for that over a weekend. We turned the ads on on Friday and it just went crazy over the weekend and they got a lot of new signups for that. So we love celebrating our client wins and you know, those wins, of course, are wins to us. So in your business, how can you put it into place to be able to see those wins that are happening, that might go unrecognized otherwise. Sometimes you may not even know that it happened, you know, think about that. Talk to the people on your team and see, you know, how can you go about recognizing those things?

We're not only putting them in our standup but we've put together a folder and we're writing them down. So it's going to be amazing to look back after we've been doing this for a year at all the wins that we've had over the course of a year. So I would encourage you that in your business, find these ways to celebrate the small victories and just, you know, enjoy it as a business owner. Running a business can be challenging. So do everything that you can to see the great things that your business is doing. We will see you next week.
